Qatar Strengthens Trade Ties with India at 29th Partnership Summit 2024.

New Delhi: The State of Qatar has actively participated in the 29th edition of the Partnership Summit 2024, held over two days in the Indian capital, New Delhi. The event saw Qatar represented by a delegation led by HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed. According to Qatar News Agency, Qatar's involvement in the summit aligns with its ongoing efforts to enhance trade and investment cooperation with India. The participation aimed to highlight the investment climate in Qatar and the promising opportunities available to attract more foreign direct investment. The summit also served as a platform to expand trade partnerships in sectors of mutual interest. During the opening session, HE the Minister emphasized the robust relations between Qatar and India, underscoring the mutual trust and cooperation that have strengthened their partnership over the years. The collaboration is guided by the shared leadership's vision to diversify a nd deepen bilateral ties. HE the Minister noted the significant growth in trade between the two countries, which has increased by 55 percent since 2020, reaching approximately $14 billion in 2023. India stands as Qatar's second-largest trading partner, with Indian investors contributing to over 20,000 companies and projects in Qatar. HE the Minister expressed optimism about the future of economic and investment partnerships between the two nations. On the sidelines of the summit, HE Minister Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed met with HE Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry of India and Chairman of the Partnership Summit. They explored ways to enhance the trade partnership and discussed new opportunities for cooperation in foreign trade. The Minister also engaged with Sanjeev Puri, Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry and Co-Chair of the Summit, to discuss increasing collaboration between the private sectors and boosting joint investments in both markets. In meetings with representative s of Indian private sector companies, HE the Minister reviewed recent developments in Qatar's economy, discussed available investment opportunities, and highlighted initiatives aimed at attracting foreign direct investment. The discussions focused on enhancing the presence of global companies in Qatar and supporting the private sector. The Partnership Summit, attended by ministers, officials, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, international organizations, and investors worldwide, serves as a global dialogue platform. It focuses on international economic relations and plays a vital role in shaping the development of the global economy.
