DAMMAM – Defending champions , Qatar’s handball team will lock horns against Uzbekistan in their second match of the main round of the 2022 Asian Men's Handball Championship in Dammam, Saudi Arabia on Monday.
Team Qatar members are looking for a second victory in the event, following their opening game victory 34-19 over hosts Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
The Valero Rivera-coached side has been placed in Group 1 in main group alongside nine-time winners South Korea, hosts Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan while Group 2 includes Kuwait, Iran, Iraq and Bahrain.
Top two teams from each group will book berths in the semi-finals of the event, which will be played on January 29. The final will be played on January 31.
The top five teams from the Championship will directly qualify for the 2023 World Men's Handball Championship, to be held jointly by Poland and Sweden.
