The Qatar U-17 handball team lost to its Saudi counterpart with a score of 26-43 today in their second match of Group C in the 10th Asian Youth Handball Championship, currently being held in Jordan until Sep. 14. The tournament also serves as a qualifier for the 2025 World Championship in Slovenia. The loss keeps Qatar's points tally at two, which were earned from their victory in the first match against the UAE (31-21). They now hold second place behind Saudi Arabia, who lead the group with four points. The tournament features 13 teams divided into four groups. Group A includes South Korea, Bahrain, and Iraq; Group B includes Jordan, Japan, and India; Group C includes Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE; and Group D includes Iran, Kuwait, Chinese Taipei, and China. The top two teams from each group advance to the main round, where the eight qualifying teams will be divided into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group will then proceed to the semifinals. The top five teams in the Asian Champions hip will qualify for the 2025 World Championship in Slovenia. It is worth noting that the Qatar U-17 handball team has won the Asian Championship twice, in 2010 in Abu Dhabi and in 2012 in Manama, and finished as runners-up three times: in 2006 in Tehran, 2008 in Amman, and 2014, also in Amman.
