Qatar: QatarEnergy has signed a long-term sulfur supply agreement with OCP Nutricrops, a subsidiary of OCP Group, which is recognized as a world leader in plant nutrition solutions and phosphate-based fertilizers. This 10-year agreement will see QatarEnergy supplying up to 7.5 million tons of sulfur to OCP Nutricrops, starting in the third quarter of 2024. According to Qatar News Agency, OCP Nutricrops, based in Morocco, focuses on developing soil nutrition solutions to tackle global challenges in food production and sustainability. HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, Eng. Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, emphasized the significance of this agreement by stating that it solidifies the business relationship with both OCP Nutricrops and the Kingdom of Morocco. He highlighted the cooperation between the companies as a step toward mutual growth and value. The agreement aligns with QatarEnergy's strategy to form enduring relationships with reliable leaders in the fertilizers industry. It also reflects QatarEnergy's commitment to support the global agricultural sector and contribute to greater food security. Qatar is recognized as one of the world's largest exporters of sulfur, with an annual production capacity of around 3.4 million tons, which is set to increase with upcoming gas production projects.
