Qatari Newspaper Editorials

Qatari newspapers in their editorials today addressed the tragic situations and horrific scenes of the Israeli aggression on Gaza, which has been ongoing for six months, and the ignited war in Sudan which has been ongoing for nearly a year, along with the humanitarian disasters and destruction caused by these wars. They expressed optimism about the end of the Israeli aggression, especially after reports of progress in negotiations. The newspapers pointed out Qatar's confirmation of its full and unconditional support for the Palestinian pursuit of full membership in the United Nations, rather than observer status as it stands now. They noted that Eid Al Fitr this year comes amid the worst humanitarian disaster witnessed in the 21st century, caused by the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza, which has resulted in over 33,000 martyrs and tens of thousands of wounded and missing, mostly women and children. Al-Sharq newspaper said that this year's Eid Al Fitr comes while the Arab and Islamic nation is suffe ring from one of the biggest and most difficult humanitarian crises and displacement waves in the world. It noted that since the outbreak of the war, 1.8 million people fled their country to neighboring countries and 6.7 million were displaced internally. It emphasized that under these circumstances, the Arab and Islamic nations need to be more united, cohesive, and in stronger solidarity to triumph for their causes, support and aid their brothers, expressing hope for a near day of celebrating the tidings of victory and liberation of the land, the victory of the just cause of the Palestinian people, and the full restoration of their rights, and for security, peace, and stability to prevail in the brotherly Sudan. For its part, Al-Raya newspaper highlighted Qatar's continued support for the Palestinian people and their cause, noting that in every effort to advocate for the Palestinian cause, Qatar leads the ranks in supporting its brothers, firmly standing by them to secure their deprived rights and confront ing the oppressive aggression and massacres committed by the criminal Israeli authorities against them. The newspaper emphasized Qatar's support for the Palestinian cause, pointing out Qatar's full and unconditional support for the Palestinian pursuit of full membership in the United Nations, rather than observer status as it stands now, noting that what is happening is aggression, injustice, ethnic cleansing, and forced displacement of Palestinian territories. It highlighted the statement made by Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations General Assembly, affirming full support for Palestine's request for full membership as a sovereign state, urging all member states to support this rightful and deserving request. Qatar stressed that in the absence of action by the Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and role in maintaining international peace and security, the world is required to correct the historical mistake of siding with occupation at the expense of the Palestinian people. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by stating that the world must take strong action to send a message to the occupation leaders that the Palestinian state is a complete reality and that it will not tolerate its crimes against Palestinians or the deliberate targeting of humanitarian and relief workers in Gaza.
