Qatari Students Triumph with Six Awards at Arab School Theater Festival

Amman: Students from Qatar achieved a remarkable feat by winning six distinguished awards at the second Arab School Theater Festival, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with the participation of seven Arab and Gulf countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Qatari play “Dreams That Never Fade”, overseen by the Department of Visual Arts and Theater at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, won the highest number of awards among the participating performances, highlighting Qatar’s excellence in the field of school theater and the quality of its artistic production.

The awards won by Qatari students included: the “Best Actor in a Leading Role” award, presented to Yusuf Mohammed Al Haydos from Doha Preparatory School for Boys; the “Best Actress in a Leading Role” award, awarded to Maytha Naif Al Yafei from Al Israa Primary School for Girls; the “Best Actor in a Supporting Role” award to Ali Awjan Al Hajri from Hamza Bin Abdul Muttalib Preparatory School for Boys. The students also won the “Encouragement Jury Award” for Munira Naif Al Yafei, along with awards for “Best Stage Design” and “Best Theatrical Costumes.”

Additionally, the Qatari delegation was presented with an official participation trophy in recognition of its valuable efforts and the high standard of performances it contributed during the festival. The event aims to exchange educational experiences between Arab countries and strengthen cultural identity through theater arts.

Qatar’s participation in this artistic event aligns with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s strategy (2024-2030), which places special emphasis on nurturing artistic talent, enhancing school activities, and fostering theatrical culture among students. This initiative also aims to develop their expressive and collaborative skills, contributing to the preparation of a creative generation equipped with 21st-century skills.
