Tehran, (QNA) - The Qatari men's national football team continued victories in the 8th Asian Men's Beach Handball Championship as it achieved its third victory in a row against its Indian counterpart (2 / zero), in the match that was held between them today, as part of the third round of the tournament. which is currently being held in the Iranian capital, Tehran. The Championship, which will continues until next Monday, will pave the way for the participating teams to qualify for the World Championship due to be hosted by Greece in June.
The Qatari team finished the first half in its favour, with a score of (25/5), while the second half was settled by (34/7).
The Qatari team raised its score with this victory to six points from three victories, as it had won its first match against the Philippines team (2/0), and in its second match against the Omani team (2/1).
The Qatari team will play an important match tomorrow against its Vietnamese counterpart, before concluding its matches in the tournament with a meeting with Iran (the host country) next Monday.
Six teams will participate in the 8th Asian Men's Beach Handball Championship, namely Qatar, Oman, Iran, Vietnam, the Philippines and India, with the first and second-ranked teams qualifying for the World Championship in Greece.
The Qatari beach handball team seeks to maintain the Asian title that it won in the last five editions in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019, and to qualify for the World Championship for the sixth time in a row, after participating in the 2010 edition that was held in Turkey and in which it ranked tenth, the 2012 edition which was held in Oman and in which it achieved the seventh place, the 2014 edition that was held in Brazil and in which it achieved a historic achievement by obtaining the third place, and the 2016 edition that was held in Hungary and in which it won the third place as well, and the last edition 2018 which was held in Russia and in which came ninth.
The Qatari team was crowned with the title of the last (seventh) edition of the Asian Men's Beach Handball Championship, which was held in the Chinese city of Weihai in 2019, after winning the final match against its Omani counterpart by two sets.
