Qatar’s Consistent Support for Libya Highlighted in Local Newspaper Editorials

Doha: Qatari newspapers have recently spotlighted the nation’s unwavering stance on Libya, alongside its active participation in the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. Locally, the focus was also on Qatar’s digital transformation initiatives as part of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Arab newspaper emphasized Qatar’s consistent position on Libya, which is centered on supporting the country’s unity and fulfilling the aspirations of its people. The newspaper noted that Doha reinforces its support through various channels, including political, economic, and humanitarian efforts aimed at achieving stability in Libya. This includes a recent meeting between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Head of the Government of National Unity of the State of Libya Abdul Hamid Mohammed Al Dbeiba. The meeting underscored Qatar’s firm stance in supporting Libya’s unity and development aspirations, as well as backing the Libyan political track and relevant Security Council resolutions.

The newspaper also highlighted Qatar’s participation in a high-level meeting on Libya organized by the United States and Italy, which took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Al-Arab concluded by commending Qatar’s commitment to aiding Libya’s journey towards stability and development through political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation, ensuring the realization of Libyan people’s goals.

Al-Watan newspaper affirmed that Qatar’s policy is rooted in supporting Arab cooperation and strengthening ties among Arab nations. It noted that Qatar’s efforts in supporting Arab causes have established its position both regionally and internationally, serving as a role model in backing Arab issues. The recent talks between HE Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Head of the Government of National Unity of Libya Abdul Hamid Mohammed Al Dbeiba reaffirmed these values, focusing on bolstering bilateral relations and discussing regional developments, including those in Gaza, the occupied Palestinian territories, and Syria.
