Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received a written message from HE President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for further development. In a separate diplomatic engagement, HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani inaugurated the 35th edition of the Doha International Book Fair at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, set to run until May 23.

According to Qatar News Agency, diplomatic meetings were a significant aspect of the day's events. HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi hosted China's Special Envoy for Afghanistan Yue Xiaoyong. Concurrently, the State of Qatar and the Republic of Turkiye engaged in their first round of political consultations in Ankara, aiming to bolster their foreign ministry relations.

Canada's voice echoed in the Middle East as HE Minister of National Defense David McGuinty expressed concerns about escalating tensions potentially affecting global security and economic stability. In response, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani met with McGuinty and his delegation during their visit to Qatar.
