QDB Activates New Financing and Advisory Programs for Food and Health Sectors

Doha: Qatar Development Bank (QDB) has announced the activation of a comprehensive suite of financing and advisory programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Ministry of Public Health. This initiative is also coordinated with the Committee for the Follow-up of the Implementation of Food Security Policies.

According to Qatar News Agency, these programs are specifically designed to support and empower companies and factories operating within the food and health sectors, as well as their ancillary industries. This move comes in response to feedback from the private sector, collected through the bank's operations room amid current regional developments.

One of the key services included in these programs is Supply Chain Financing for Priority Products. Through this service, QDB will offer partial guarantees to wholesale and retail trade companies, facilitating their financing applications through the commercial banks where they maintain accounts.

Another significant service is Raw Material Inventory Financing, which will provide financial support for factories in priority sectors. This initiative aims to bolster their raw material inventory in preparation for any potential disruptions in supply chains.

QDB has also introduced a Logistics Support Program for Imports. This dedicated program is tailored to assist import operations and logistics for factories in the food and health sectors and their ancillary industries. It seeks to mitigate the impact of rising shipping and transportation costs by offering financial support to cover the increased logistics costs. Additionally, it facilitates connections with strategic partners and reliable logistics providers, organizes specialized workshops on logistics operations and international trade, and provides access to the latest market insights and developments.

To access these services, QDB has stated that companies and factories on the designated list will be directly contacted. This will be in coordination with relevant parties and aligned with pre-defined sector priorities, ensuring alignment with the priorities of the targeted sectors under the current regional circumstances.
