QFZ Aims to Boost Economic and Investment Ties with Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia

Doha: HE CEO of Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani met with HE Minister-President of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia of the Federal Republic of Germany Hendrik Wust, and his accompanying delegation, currently visiting the State.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting, held at the Business Innovation Park in Ras Bufontas Free Zone, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between Qatar and Germany, and explored avenues to boost German investments in Qatar’s free zones. Discussions also included opportunities for collaboration to support economic diversification and innovation within the country.

HE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani stated, “The visit aims to enhance bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the State of Qatar and Germany, which have a long-standing relationship, marked by over 50 years of diplomatic relations and more than six decades of trade cooperation, and Germany is also Qatar’s main trade partner.”

His Excellency added: “There are more than 10 German companies, which have headquarters or branches in Qatar’s free zones, including DHL, DB Shenker, Siemens Energy and Evonik. QFZ is looking forward to further collaborating with the German side, to provide them with investment incentives and attract more German companies in key strategic sectors to establish their businesses and expand regionally and globally from Qatar’s free zones.”

The meeting was also attended by HE Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the State of Qatar Lothar Freischlader, alongside senior executive officials from QFZ, Doha Venture Capital (QFZ’s development fund), and partners from the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar (Invest Qatar), and Qatar Investment Authority. The session included presentations followed by a guided tour of the Business Innovation Park at Ras Bufontas Free Zone.

This productive engagement comes as part of the State of Qatar’s, QFZ’s, and relevant stakeholders’ unwavering commitment to building strategic international partnerships and enhancing Qatar’s position as a reliable global hub for trade and investment.
