Doha: The Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) and QTerminals have formalized a cooperation agreement, designating QTerminals Group as the official operator of Marsa Port located in Umm Al Houl Free Zone. This strategic move aims to enhance the port's capabilities and establish it as a key regional hub for maritime services. According to Qatar News Agency, the agreement entrusts QTerminals with managing and developing Marsa Port operations, providing a comprehensive package of maritime and handling services. The company will oversee multiple-use docks to support industries and strategic projects both within Qatar and globally. Additionally, QTerminals will facilitate services related to shipbuilding, refitting, repairs for yachts and other vessels, and marine services for yachts and ships. The agreement was signed by QFZ CEO HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani and QTerminals Group Board Member Capt. Abdulla bin Mohamad Al Khanji during the Qatar Boat Show, which continues until November 9 at the Ol d Doha Port. HE Minister of Transport Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti highlighted that this partnership aligns with QTerminals' strategic objectives as a Qatari port management company and will bolster Marsa Port's operations, enhancing its status as a regional maritime hub. HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani emphasized that the collaboration marks a pivotal moment for Marsa Port, aligning with Qatar's commitment to economic diversification under Qatar National Vision 2030. He noted that Marsa Port's state-of-the-art infrastructure and QTerminals' expertise create an environment conducive to attracting superyachts and world-class maritime services. Capt. Abdulla bin Mohamad Al Khanji expressed that operating Marsa Port enhances QTerminals' presence in Qatar, complementing their management of Hamad Port. He mentioned that QTerminals' international operations in the Netherlands, Trkiye, and Ukraine will inform their approach to fostering economic growth and trade through Marsa Port. Marsa Port's s trategic location in the Umm Al Houl free zone, near Hamad Port and central Doha, positions it as a prime site for maritime activities. Its 7.5-meter-deep draught enables various operations, including ocean vessel building, repair, and maritime research. The port's Synchro Lift is designed for vessels over 70 meters in length and 2,200 tonnes, alongside a travel lift for vessels up to 30 meters and 300 tonnes.
