The Egyptian professional squash player Ali Farag qualified on Tuesday for the quarter-finals of the QTerminals Qatar Classic 2023 Squash Tournament held at the squash courts of the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex until Saturday.
Faraj who is looking forward to win his third title in Qatar after 2018 and 2020, defeated his compatriot Fares Dessouky, seeded 14 in the world, 3-0, (11-7, 11-7, 12-10).
The Egyptian player will face on Thursday his compatriot Tarek Momen who qualified after overcoming Qatari Abdullah Al Tamimi, 3-1 (11-8, 12-10, 7). - 11, 11- 8).
On the other hand, the organizing committee revealed its new design for the two tournament cups, which are held in the platinum category.
The committee said in a statement on Tuesday that the two new cups, which celebrate the return of womens competitions to the Doha Tournament once again, reflect the rich Qatari heritage as the organizing committee inspired their design from the Barzan Towers which are also known as the Umm Salal Mohammed Castle Towers.
In turn, the Director of the QTerminals Qatar Classic 2023 Squash Tournament Tariq Zainal, affirmed that the tournament has become one of the strongest and most important tournaments on the global scene, pointing to the strength of the competitions it has witnessed so far, whether at the mens or womens level.
