Qatar University (QU) has announced the spinoff of its faculty-led startup in the Fintech sector, Genesis Technologies LLC, led by members of its faculty. This startup has been co-founded by Dr. Mazen El Masri and Dr. Karim Al Yafi, who are faculty members specialized in Management Information Systems (MIS) at QU’s College of Business and Economics.

This team has developed a new Blockchain technology platform that promises to enable significantly more cost and energy-efficient decentralized and secure transactions in the digital economy.

This achievement made by QU is a direct result of the University’s strategy of innovation and leadership aimed at making the University a catalyst for sustainable social and economic development in the State of Qatar. This strategy also supports national efforts to diversify the economy and move the country towards achieving a knowledge-based economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
