The Quranic Botanical Garden, a member of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), an affiliate of Qatar Foundation (QF), has participated in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) conference, which was held at its regional office in Cairo, as part of the celebration of World Biological Diversity Day. The garden's participation focused on strengthening the role of botanical gardens in the Arab region and their role in preserving biocultural diversity. It reviewed its various programs dedicated to preserving plant resources in Qatar, and the strategy used for conservation inside and outside natural habitats. It also organized an exhibition on biological diversity in the State of Qatar, which featured herbal samples of Qatari wild plants and some plants mentioned in the Holy Quran and the noble Prophets (PBUH) hadiths. This participation comes within the Quranic Botanical Gardens endeavor to contribute to preserving biodiversity and natural heritage in Qatar and the region , and to enhance awareness of the importance of botanical gardens as a tool for sustainable development.
