Washington: President Donald Trump revoked the security clearances of former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and several other former officials. In a memorandum issued by the White House late Friday, which also included former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Trump stated that it is no longer in the national interest for the individuals listed to have access to classified information.
According to Qatar News Agency, the list of those whose security clearances were revoked also includes former Republican Representative Liz Cheney and Jake Sullivan, who served as National Security Advisor under former President Joe Biden. Trump had previously revoked Biden’s security clearance, thereby denying the former president the traditional access to US intelligence reports. Traditionally, former U.S. presidents receive intelligence briefings to enable them to offer advice on national security and foreign policy matters. In 2021, then-President Joe Biden revoked the security clearance granted to Donald Trump, who was a former president at that time.
