Manama, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Auditor General of the National Audit Office (NAO), attended the opening of the "Digital Transformation" conference organised by the Bahrain Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He stressed that the auditing and accounting sectors are rapidly evolving due to new technological programmes and AI tools, which save time, effort, and resources while improving accuracy and reducing errors. Shaikh Ahmed highlighted the critical role of digital transformation and technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, across all sectors. He emphasised that these innovations are essential for staying competitive in global markets, ensuring growth, and enhancing institutional efficiency. He noted that the NAO has implemented several digital transformation initiatives, including upgrading infrastructure, enhancing institutional capabilities, and providing extensive training for employees. These efforts align with Bahrain's broader technologi cal advancements and the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as well as government efforts to advance digitalisation across various sectors. During the conference, Shaikh Ahmed outlined the procedures adopted by the NAO, including the programmes, systems, and security measures in use. He also highlighted Bahrain's leading global position in digital transformation, cybersecurity, and its strong technological protection framework. He noted Bahrain's various initiatives to support the growth of the digital sector, in line with the Kingdom's Economic Vision 2030. Shaikh Ahmed further emphasised Bahrain's regional leadership in government digital transformation, evidenced by the launch of its e-Government Strategy. This strategy aims to empower government entities to improve services for citizens and residents by streamlining processes and enhancing quality of life. He underscored the Kingdom's progress, with Bahrain achieving high rankings in several global digital indicators. The Bahrain Ch apter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, established in 1985, currently has 450 members and is the largest professional organisation for the Indian community in Bahrain.
