Geneva, Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, Shura Council member, participated in a meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union's Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights. The meeting was held as part of the 149th IPU General Assembly in Geneva. The committee approved a new resolution aimed at curbing illegal child adoption and trafficking, and safeguarding children's rights. Al Zayed called for stronger global and parliamentary measures to tackle the issue, which has been exacerbated by conflicts and wars around the world. She welcomed the initiative taken by the committee to address this pressing issue, stressing the need for targeted efforts to combat illegal adoption, keep families intact, and develop effective systems for reuniting children with their parents. Al Zayed also highlighted the importance of rehabilitating children affected by illegal adoption, helping them recover from the psychological impact. She noted that such efforts are critical to upholding fundamental human rights and ensuring that chil dren are protected under both national and international laws. Source: Bahrain News Agency
