Doha: The Social and Sport Contribution Fund 'DAAM' has inked a funding agreement with the Cultural Village Foundation 'Katara' to support the 10th edition of the annual Senyar festival. The new agreement reflects the efficient role that DAAM and joint-stock companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange play in supporting social and sports activities within the State of Qatar. Senyar 2024, which takes place between May 2 and May 4, aims at reintroducing the values of the Qatari marine heritage to the younger generations, as it projects a live image of the history behind fishing and diving in Qatar. This year's edition will see the participation of 850 individuals split over 75 teams, 82 of these individuals will be representing GCC countries, in addition to 80 expat residents living in Qatar. Contestants will have the chance to bag home prizes ranging from QR 1 million for the winner of the first prize, in addition to QR 500,000 for the second prize, and QR 300,000 for the third prize winner. Contests will include Hadaq or hook and line and Laffah, another form of traditional fishing, together, after previously including diving and other competitions. Since its foundation in 2010, the Social and Sport Contribution Fund 'DAAM' has paved the way for numerous sports and social projects and initiatives. The contributions of joint-stock companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange remain a key funding resource for 'DAAM,' as they continue to be success partners in realizing the countrys social development.
