Doha: Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud emphasized Wednesday that his country is committed to providing all kinds of military and logistical support to the Somali Armed Forces to continue their counter-terrorism operations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported that President Mohamud held a meeting with army officers and commanders in the Hirshabelle region, who are leading the liberation operations, confirming the country’s full support for the troops deployed on the front lines of combat operations. He urged them to continue their efforts until all remaining regions are liberated.
President Mohamud is making a broader field tour to follow up on the military operations, and so far, he has reached the city of Moqokory in the Hiiraan Governorate and the strategic city of Adan Yabal in the Middle Shabelle region, as part of his efforts to support counter-terrorism military operations.
On Tuesday, the Somali President survived a blast that targeted his motorcade at an intersection adjacent to the Somali Presidency while he was en route to Mogadishu Airport. Official media circles stated that the attack, claimed by Al-Shabaab, resulted in the killing of at least eight civilians and the wounding of others.
