Washington: South Africa has expressed regret over the United States’ decision to declare its ambassador in Washington, Ebrahim Rasool, persona non grata, labeling it a regrettable move.
According to Qatar News Agency, the South African Presidency issued a statement on Saturday acknowledging the unfortunate expulsion. The statement urged all concerned parties to uphold established diplomatic decorum when addressing the matter.
The South African government reiterated its commitment to fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with the United States, despite the current diplomatic tensions.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on the platform X that there was “nothing to discuss” with South Africa’s ambassador, thereby declaring him unwelcome in the country.
