Speaker affirms Bahrain’s support for entrepreneurs, SMEs

Manama, The 6th Gulf Business Incubators and Accelerators Conference, themed “The Future of Business Incubators in the Gulf... Sustainability, Development, and Financial Support”, kicked off on Wednesday in the presence of 200 participants from six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, affirmed during his opening speech that Bahrain, under the comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attaches great importance to the economic and investment sectors, citing its keenness to support entrepreneurs and enhance partnership between the public and private sectors, based on the goals of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, Jameel Humaidan, Minister of Labour, Osama bin Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development, Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, Farouk Al Moayyed, Honorary Chairman of the Bahrain Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Development Society were present.

This conference sponsors, including the Minister of Industry and Commerce, the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB), the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK), Ahli United Bank (AUB), Export Bahrain, and the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) Governor, were honoured.

The Speaker affirmed Bahrain’s pride in the national competencies and expertise, institutions, and associations for playing their economic and societal roles through pioneering Bahraini success stories, advanced and facilitating procedures, and a modern legal and legislative system that attracts investment and stimulates entrepreneurship.

He noted that the legislative authority in Bahrain, in cooperation with the executive authority, contributed to supporting investment activity and provided it with the appropriate legislative environment that removed the obstacles and created work opportunities to support the national economy.

Farouk Al Moayyed affirmed that business incubators and accelerators play a very important role in qualifying small traders for the market and providing a suitable environment for them, especially in the first stages of establishment where they need advice and guidance.

He said that business incubators are essential for supporting owners of emerging and medium-sized enterprises and transforming innovative ideas into successful commercial projects.
