Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Haider Hanoun, discussed today, Saturday, with the Preparatory Committee for the Arab Forum for Promoting Transparency, the means to ensure the success of the forum in its second session. The Integrity Commission stated in a statement that "the Chairman of the Federal Integrity Commission discussed with the committee the preparations for holding the second Arab Forum for Promoting Transparency and Good Governance, which will be held under the patronage of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, and the requirements for its success." It added that "Hanoun urged during his meeting with the Preparatory Committee for the forum, which is scheduled to be held in cooperation with Transparency International and the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, in the capital, Baghdad, under the slogan (Integrity and Achieving Sustainable Development Goals), to provide all the requirements that contribute to the success of the forum and show it in the best possible way befit ting Iraq's reputation." Hanoun explained, according to the statement, that "Iraq seeks, through these events and conferences of Transparency International, to inform this organization of Iraq's experience in combating corruption and its level of compliance with the decisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption," calling for "reviewing Iraq's classification in the Corruption Perceptions Index reports issued by the organization, especially after Iraq took several steps to enhance transparency and good governance, including: seeking to approve a draft law on the right to access information, and seriousness in moving towards governance and digital transformation, in addition to continuing to build institutions of the democratic system and protect public freedoms." The Commission indicated that "the forum will be held over three days from the tenth to the twelfth of this September, and will include discussions and sessions to present ideas on the topics of asset recovery, the role of the media an d civil society in combating corruption, and the future of preventive measures to combat corruption."
