Baghdad, The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, Omar Al-Barzanji, received today, Tuesday, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, in the Ministry building. During the meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the efforts of UNRWA and its vital role in providing relief to millions of Palestinian people over the past decades were discussed, especially its current role in relieving and providing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and alleviating the suffering they are exposed to as a result of the aggression by the occupation forces. Al-Barzanji expressed Iraq's support for the UN resolutions regarding UNRWA, stressing its denunciation of the restrictive measures taken by the Israeli entity against the agency. For his part, Lazzarini welcomed the financial and in-kind contributions provided by Iraq to suppo rt the work of UNRWA, stressing the importance of Iraq's role in supporting decisions that strengthen the agency's role.
