Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari announced the details of the measures taken between the two sides in preparation for Ashura and the Arbaeen visit. Al-Shammari said during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart and the governor of Basra: Over the past two days, we have been briefed on the ongoing preparations by the Iraqi and Iranian Interior Ministries through field reconnaissance as well as inspection visits to the ports between the two neighboring countries. He added, "There was a joint agreement on all measures between the Iraqi and Iranian sides, which will be implemented during the tenth of Muharram and the millionth pilgrimage on the Arbaeen, during the next month." He explained: Our ministry's measures were summed up in ensuring protection for the border crossings in Zurbatiyah, Al-Mundhiriya, Al-Shayb, and Shalamcheh, as well as securing roads and transportation areas, as well as the service and medical measures that will be provided by the Ministries of Health and Transport , as well as the other supporting ministries. The minister pointed out the formation of joint controlling headquarters between the Iraqi and Iranian sides at the ports where procedures for sending visitors between the two countries to Holy Karbala are carried out to perform the visitation ceremonies, as well as the reverse transfer. Noting that there is a presence of the governors of Diyala, Wasit, and Maysan, and now we have the governor of Basra for coordination and joint cooperation to facilitate these procedures so that they are smooth.
