The Iraqi National Security Service (INSS) announced today, Sunday, the arrest of the perpetrators of the bombing of the Salamiyat checkpoint north of Baghdad. The spokesman for the INSS, Arshad Al-Hakim, said in a video clip: "The circumstances of the bombing of the Salamiyat checkpoint north of Baghdad, which occurred on September 9, and resulted in the martyrdom of a soldier and a citizen working as a delivery driver, and the injury of three other elements, have been revealed." He added that "the INSS detachments intensified their intelligence, field and technical efforts after the incident to pursue those involved," indicating that "the identity of one of the suspects was determined and after obtaining judicial approvals, he was arrested." He explained that "when confronted with the evidence, he confessed to his participation in carrying out the operation after receiving an explosive device from another accused who was also arrested," noting that "the investigations revealed that the first accused used social media sites disguised as a girl to lure one of the checkpoint members and placed an explosive device inside a delivery order and sent it with the bike driver who did not know about it, which led to its explosion when it was opened."
