The number of victims of torrents and floods that struck several regions in eastern Libya, due to Storm Daniel, has risen to more than 2,000 dead and thousands missing.
Local sources reported, according to the Libyan News Agency, that residential neighborhoods disappeared after the torrents swept them into the sea along with thousands of their residents, indicating that the situation is “catastrophic” and unprecedented in Libya.
The Libyan News Agency added that the flying ambulance announced the establishment of an air bridge from Tripoli to the eastern region to transport critical cases.
Unprecedented torrents and floods struck the eastern region of Libya, striking the cities of Al-Bayda, Derna, Al-Marj, Tobruk, Takenis, Al-Bayada, Battah, and all the cities and villages of Jabal Al-Akhdar and the eastern coast, all the way to Benghazi, leaving hundreds of victims and destroying buildings and property.
