NEW STATISTICS PUBLISHED BY THE KUWAITI PUBLIC AUTHORITY FOR CIVIL INFORMATION SHOWED A DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF IRAQIS IN KUWAIT DURING THE PAST 33 YEARS, BY 11%.
THE AUTHORITY SAID IN ITS TABLE TODAY: “THE NUMBER OF IRAQIS IN KUWAIT DURING THE YEAR 1990 AMOUNTED TO 18,610 PEOPLE, AND IT DECREASED BY 11% TO REACH 16,479 PEOPLE DURING THE END OF THE LAST YEAR 2022,” INDICATING THAT “THE LARGEST DECREASE OCCURRED IN THE NUMBERS OF IRAQIS WAS IN 1993 WHEN IT REACHED 9 THOUSAND AND 230 PEOPLE, WHILE THE LARGEST NUMBER OF IRAQIS WAS IN 2017 WHEN THEIR NUMBERS REACHED 19 THOUSAND AND 671 PEOPLE.
IT ADDED, "THE PROPORTION OF IRAQIS TO THE POPULATION OF KUWAIT DURING 1990 WAS 1.18%, BUT IT HAS DECLINED BY THE END OF 2022 TO REACH ONLY 0.17%."
KUWAIT INCLUDES THE GOVERNORATES OF FARWANIYA, AL-JAHRA, AL-AHMADI, AND MUBARAK AL-KABEER, IN ADDITION TO THE CAPITAL, AND MOST OF THE COUNTRY'S POPULATION LIVES IN THE GOVERNORATES AROUND THE CAPITAL AND FARWANIYA, WHILE EXPATRIATES CONSTITUTE ABOUT 60% OF THE TOTAL POPULATION OF KUWAIT, NUMBERING 3,068.155 MILLION PEOPLE, ACCORDING TO 2022 ESTIMATES.
