The President Of The Republic Stresses The Importance Of Strengthening Relations Between Iraq And China, Especially Economic And Trade

The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of strengthening the existing relations between Iraq and China, especially economic and trade.

A presidential statement stated, "The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received today the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Baghdad, Cui Wei, and during the meeting he received the greetings and wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping, while Abdul Latif entrusted Ambassador Cui Wei with his greetings and wishes to the Chinese President and the leadership." He also congratulated the Iraqi and Chinese peoples on the sixty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

He added, "Iraq is interested in consolidating the frameworks of coordination and cooperation," stressing "the importance of strengthening the existing relations between Iraq and China, especially economic and trade, and in the field of developing infrastructure and services, and expanding horizons of joint cooperation in areas of mutual interest and in a way that achieves the common interests of the two friendly countries and peoples."

The President of the Republic said that "there are investment opportunities in the country and the need to motivate Chinese companies to invest and work in Iraq in many fields," noting that "improving services provided to citizens receives the attention of government programs and policies."

For his part, Ambassador Cui Wei expressed his thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic, stressing that "China is keen to develop and build distinguished relations with Iraq based on its historical depth and the fruitful results it has achieved, as thousands of Chinese workers and engineers work in Iraq as well as Chinese companies that have important projects in Iraq today.”/ End
