The President of the Republic Stresses the Necessity of Enhancing Relations with Azerbaijan to Achieve the Common Interests of the Two Countries

President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid stressed, today, Tuesday, the necessity of advancing relations with Azerbaijan to achieve the common interests of the two countries. A statement by the Presidency of the Republic stated that the President of the Republic received, today, Tuesday, at the Baghdad Palace, the Azerbaijani Ambassador Nasir Mammadov, During the meeting, they discussed the friendship and cooperation relations between Iraq and Azerbaijan and the means to develop them to include several fields, as the President of the Republic stressed the necessity of advancing the nature of bilateral relations and expanding the horizons of cooperation in a way that achieves the common interests of the two countries, in addition to their positive repercussions on the economic, tourism and investment sectors of the two countries. Rashid pointed to the importance of cooperation with Azerbaijan at the environmental level in the areas of combating climate change, desertification and water scarcity, i n addition to cooperation in the security and educational fields through the exchange of experiences, missions and study fellowships. The President of the Republic expressed his hope for Azerbaijan's success in sponsoring the United Nations Climate Conference (COP29), hoping that the conference would come out with results and recommendations that would be implemented in a scientific and practical manner that would benefit the environment and humanity in general. For his part, Ambassador Mammadov briefed the President on the agenda and sessions of the COP29 conference, expressing his country's hope for Iraq's participation in the conference, which would support bilateral cooperation and coordination between the two countries on various international issues.
