The President of the Republic stresses to the Lebanese Ambassador the importance of strengthening bilateral relations for their positive impact in consolidating stability in the region

President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received, at the Baghdad Palace today, Wednesday, the Lebanese Ambassador to Iraq, Ali Adeeb Al-Habhab. The President stressed during the meeting, according to a presidential statement, the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Lebanon for their positive impact in consolidating stability in the region, indicating keenness to develop constructive cooperation in areas of common interest. The President explained: "After defeating terrorism, Iraq has regained its role in the Arab and regional surroundings, and seeks to enhance mutual commonalities to achieve the interests of the two brotherly countries." The President of the Republic also listened to a detailed explanation provided by Ambassador Al-Habhab about the latest security developments in the region and Lebanon, and the position of his country's government on the ongoing violations of the Zionist entity and its attacks on the lands and sovereignty of Lebanon. In this regard, the President affirmed the steadfastness of the Iraqi position in supporting Lebanon's sovereignty over its lands, renewing his condemnation of the barbarism of the Zionist entity against the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and their right to live in security and stability. The President also stressed the importance of Arab countries having a unified position on the Palestinian issue. The Lebanese Ambassador thanked his government for the President of the Republic's interest in the developments in Lebanon and the region, pointing out Lebanon's keenness to develop the historical relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples.
