The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, arrived today, Tuesday, in the city of Bologna, as part of his state visit to Italy.
The President was received in the city of Bologna by the representative of the government, the delegate of the interior and the regional commander of the Italian Gendarmerie (Carabinieri), after which he went to the Palace of Accursio, which includes the municipal complex and the important departments in the city.
In the hall of honor at the municipality's headquarters, the President of the Republic was received by Matteo Libori, Mayor of Bologna, and a number of other government officials in the city.
The President of the Republic met the mayor and a number of officials and administrators in the city. At the outset of the meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, the Minister of Migration and Displacement, Evan Faeq Jabro, and a number of advisors and officials, the President expressed his happiness at the warm welcome, pointing to Iraq's desire to activate communication mechanisms with Italy and exchange experiences in the fields of urbanization, culture, economy and tourism. and methods of modern management of cities.
The President wrote a word in the honor roll, in which he expressed his pleasure at visiting the Bologna Municipality and the Palazzo de Curcio and meeting the city's mayor, Matteo Libori, stressing the importance of the city and its role in enriching social, cultural and artistic life, with its tall towers and the engineering and architectural art that characterizes it.
The President referred to the desire to consolidate the deep and distinguished relations that bind the two countries, expressing his hope for the consolidation of ties and partnerships between Iraqi and Italian cities.
Then he went on foot to the great square of the city (Piazza Maggiore) and the portico of the Pavilione to the Palace of the Arkegymnasium, and he was received in Piazza Galvani by the Director of the Department of Libraries and Cultural Welfare, Verone Cerruti, in charge of the Library of the Arkegymnasium, and a number of other officials of the palace, where the President visited the halls of the Stabat Matter and the Anatomical Amphitheatre.
For his part, the mayor of Bologna and government officials in the city appreciated the visit of the President of the Republic and his interest in consolidating relations of friendship and communication with Italy, stressing Italy's keenness to expand the horizons of cooperation with Iraq to include many areas of common interest and to serve the aspirations of the two friendly peoples for progress and well-being.
