The President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas appreciated Iraq's position in support of the Palestinian cause. This came in two messages conveyed by the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iraq, Ahmed Al-Ruwaidi, from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, and to Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani on the occasion of Independence Day. In his two messages, the Palestinian President expressed pride in the historical relationship between Iraq and Palestine based on brotherhood and solidarity at all levels and positions. President Mahmoud Abbas appreciated Iraq's honorable and continuous positions in supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, expressing his confidence in Iraq's continued effective role in the ceasefire in Gaza, the return of the displaced to their areas, reconstruction, and the State of Palestine's assumption of its rule in the Gaza Strip as well as in the West Bank and Al-Quds, and going to an international conference that leads to ending the occupation of the land of the State of Palestine in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions with Al-Quds as its capital. For his part, the Palestinian Ambassador appreciated the humanitarian support provided by Iraq, which was represented by sending humanitarian aid, medical supplies and fuel to Gaza, in addition to receiving wounded and sick people from the Gaza Strip in Iraqi hospitals.
