Doha: The Qatar Police Sports Federation (QPSF), on Saturday, organized the third GCC police cross-country championship at Aspire Park. The championship featured intense competition for the podium with the participation of 36 runners representing the six GCC states in both individual and team categories for men, competing over 12 km. According to Qatar News Agency, Bahrain secured first place in the individual competition with a time of 37:02 minutes, while UAE came in second with a time of 38:22 minutes. Additionally, Qatar finished third with a time of 39:43 minutes. In the team competitions, Saudi Arabia finished in first place, with Oman taking second place, while UAE came in third. Maj. Gen. Khalid Hamad Al Attiyah, President of the Arab and Qatar police sports federations, extended his gratitude and appreciation to HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani for his significant support to QPSF's activities. He also thank ed HE Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohammed Al-Thani and all staffers of the ministry for their extraordinary contributions to have a successful tournament. Additionally, Al Attiyah congratulated the winners of the first place who ascended to the coronation platform after significant efforts to reach this milestone. He pointed out that the championship brought together presidents of federations and delegations from the GCC states, as well as the outstanding participation of a contingent of Gulf athletes from the police. He commended the strong individual and team competitions, affirming that such tournaments enhance ties and fraternity among the brothers in the GCC states and demonstrate the high sport morals of all participants. He highlighted that the organizing committee received great commendation from all delegations for the superb organization of this event, which underscores the incredible years-long QPSF's expertise through organizing numerous Gulf, Arab, an d international tournaments. Maj. Gen. Al Attiyah pointed out that QPSF has so far organized successful tournaments in 2019 for the Arab Cross-Country Championship for men and women, indicating that this championship is a real addition to the stellar record of QPSF. He thanked the organizing committee for its superb efforts.
