Manama, Fatima bint Jaffar Al Sairafi, the Minister of Tourism, and the Chairman of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), met with a delegation from the World Bank headed by Rafeef Abdelrazek, the Programme Leader for Sustainable Development for the GCC at the World Bank. She affirmed the Kingdom's commitment to enhancing the sustainability of its tourism sector by collaborating with the World Bank Group to share best practices. She added that this aligns with Bahrain's Tourism Strategy 2022-2026 and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The minister emphasised the importance of ensuring hotel establishments and private tourism facilities adhere to sustainability standards. She also highlighted that the Ministry of Tourism and BTEA prioritise these standards in granting licenses for tourist destinations and facilities to ensure sustainable tourism products meet tourist aspirations. The minister underscored that Bahrain is committed to promoting sustainable tourism development and contributing to the creation of a sustainable tourism ecosystem that supports the growth of international tourism. During the meeting, the World Bank Group delegation discussed their collaboration in Bahrain and the region.
