The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its concern about "the recent escalation of practices that violate the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque."
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement today: Turkey is deeply concerned about the practices that violate the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that these practices have recently increased.
In its statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry affirmed Ankara's rejection of "all attacks that target the sanctity of the holy places in Al-Quds, especially the Noble Sanctuary, and violate its historical status."
Turkey renewed its call on the Israeli government to avoid all “provocative actions that would escalate tensions on the ground” and to take the necessary steps in this regard “immediately.”
On Monday morning, hundreds of settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Al-Quds from the Mughrabi Gate side, on the third day of the Jewish “Throne Day,” under the protection of the Israeli police.
The Islamic Endowments Department in Al-Quds said in a brief statement: 1,142 settlers stormed the mosque in the morning.
“Sukkot” (the last of the three Jewish holidays, Passover, Weeks, and Throne) began last September 29 and continues until the sixth of this month and is linked to the memory of the Jews being lost in the Sinai desert and their dwelling under umbrellas and in tents.
The frequency of raids into the mosque usually increases during periods of Jewish holidays, and they take place in two periods, in the morning and after the noon prayer, with facilities and accompaniment from the Israeli police.
