Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed, in a phone call today, the efforts made to reach a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. In a statement, Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that Fidan emphasized to his US counterpart during the call, the need to pressure the Israeli entity in order to achieve a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. According to the statement, the Turkish Foreign Minister expressed his concern about the increasing tension in the region, noting that the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine (Hamas), in Tehran, and the ongoing aggression against the Palestinians have once again demonstrated that the Israeli entity is unwilling to establish peace.
