Istanbul, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus called on NATO members to put an end to the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and pressure the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to achieve lasting peace immediately. Kurtulmus said in a speech today, Tuesday, during the NATO Parliamentary Heads of State Summit in the US capital, Washington: "We call on all NATO allies to put an end to the aggression of the Netanyahu government and build lasting peace urgently." He added: "As members of the most powerful defense organization in the world, we cannot ignore the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and the Israeli massacres must stop." The Turkish Parliament Speaker called for delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip without obstacles and supporting the two-state solution, stressing the need not to ignore the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with American support since October 7 of last year, leaving more than 126,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that has claimed the lives of hundreds of children. Tel Aviv continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
