Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the presidential complex in the Turkish capital Ankara on Wednesday. According to a statement by the Communications Department of the Turkish Presidency, the two sides discussed the massacres committed by Israel in the Palestinian territories, the steps that must be taken to achieve a permanent ceasefire and peace, and the current developments. Erdogan stressed during the meeting that Turkey will continue to support the just Palestinian cause and will continue to work to stop Israel and increase the pressure of the international community on it. The Turkish President said: "Israel continues to slaughter civilians, including children, in Gaza, displace innocent Palestinians, bomb schools, hospitals and areas where civilians seek refuge, and condemn people to hunger and thirst. Despite this, some Western countries remain silent about all of this and some continue to support Israel." He added: "All countries, especially in the Islamic world, must intensify their efforts to ensure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians."
