Turkiye Neutralizes Over 3,000 Armed Elements in 2024, Defense Ministry Reports

ANKARA: Turkiye’s Ministry of National Defense has announced that it successfully neutralized 3,070 armed elements throughout 2024, underscoring its ongoing security operations in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry’s statement detailed that these operations resulted in the neutralization of 1,579 elements in northern Syria and 1,491 in northern Iraq. The report further noted that a total of 107 elements surrendered over the past year, highlighting Ankara’s continued efforts to combat armed groups in the coming year of 2025.

Turkiye has been conducting military and security operations for years, targeting the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in response to the group’s activities against Turkish forces and citizens. The ongoing operations reflect Ankara’s determination to maintain pressure on these armed groups as part of its broader regional security strategy.
