Doha: The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) proudly hosted the highly anticipated Skills Day 2025, an event that continues to highlight the importance of innovation, real-world problem-solving, and teamwork in academic and professional development.
According to Qatar News Agency, this year’s event was an extraordinary gathering featuring over 40 unique challenges and competitions. Participants explored hands-on activities across a wide array of fields, including Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, Computing and Information Technology, Business, and General Education, demonstrating their expertise in tackling complex, real-world scenarios.
Notable competitions included the Cybersecurity Skills Contest, Solar Car Challenge, Sustainability and Renewable Energy, and Autonomous Vehicle Simulation Cloud Challenge, showcasing the innovative spirit of UDST students.
In this regard, President of UDST Dr. Salem Al Naemi said: “Skills Day shows our students’ preparedness to step into the workforce, armed not only with practical knowledge but also the collaborative skills that will drive innovation and create meaningful change. This event highlights the depth of their learning and their ability to apply it in real-world scenarios. It’s an opportunity to celebrate their hard work and dedication, while also showcasing how UDST is continuously evolving to meet industry needs. By offering relevant, hands-on experiences, we ensure our students are ready to face the challenges of tomorrow’s job market with confidence and creativity.”
The event saw active participation from over 700 students, who worked diligently on projects ranging from Network Security Challenges and AI Development to Machining and 3D Design Challenges using SolidWorks to Interprofessional Healthcare Challenges and much more. They were also tasked with navigating challenges related to marketing, problem-solving, and human resources – each designed to push the boundaries of creative thinking and technical expertise.
In addition to the exciting competitions, UDST hosted a special Shell NXplorers workshop as part of the side events for Skills Day, focusing on “Innovating for a Sustainable Future.” As the event draws to a close, the spotlight will shift to the grand awards ceremony tomorrow, where the competition winners will be honored with medals and certificates for their outstanding achievements.
