Davos: The Director-General of the International Organization for Migration Amy Pope stressed the need for a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza so that the international community can deliver the necessary humanitarian aid to the population.
According to Qatar News Agency, in her remarks on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s 55th annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Pope called for ensuring the strong support of the international community for the ceasefire and defending its implementation and continuation, stressing that without a ceasefire, they will not be able to deliver aid to Gaza.
The UN official stressed the importance of achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, confirming that humanitarian needs in the region have reached astronomical levels.
The joint mediation efforts undertaken by the State of Qatar, in cooperation with Egypt and the United States of America, succeeded in reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza that went into effect last Sunday, after an Israeli aggression on the Strip that lasted for more than 15 months.
