London, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (Derasat), participated in a panel discussion organised by the Royal Institute of International Affairs “Chatham House” in the UK on the current political crisis in the Middle East.
Dr. Neil Quilliam, Associate Fellow in the Middle East and North Africa Program at the Institute, and several experts, researchers, and specialists in British and international affairs, were present.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed affirmed Bahrain’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to give priority to dialogue and diplomatic means in resolving crises and settling regional and international disputes, to establish security, stability, just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East and the world.
During the session, the undersecretary reviewed the vision of B
ahrain in light of the diplomatic approach of HM the King, the directives of the government led by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and its positions in support of international partnership to achieve comprehensive and sustainable peaceful solutions to the current crises and tensions in the region.
He underscored Bahrain’s role in promoting regional peace and stability, highlighting the key initiatives adopted at the 33rd Arab Summit “Bahrain Summit,” held in May. Among these initiatives were proposals for an international peace conference, under UN auspices, to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East; the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, grounded in the two-state solution; and support for its full recognition and membership within the international community. Additionally, Bahrain’s efforts to provide education and healthcare to those affected by regional conflicts aim to foster a secure, stable region.
