The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bahrain held the closing ceremony of the ninth edition of the Youth Leadership Programme (YLP9) 2023, in collaboration with the Youth Affairs Ministry.
Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Youth Affairs Minister attended the ceremony, in the presence of Firas Gharaibeh, UNDP Resident Representative.
The YLP9 was an intensive seven-week program focused on green economy, capacity building, and empowering young people to drive progress and development.
The minister highlighted the importance of this programme in developing youth's skill and knowledge.
"We support youth initiatives to promote the development of young people's capabilities, energies, and creativity so that they can contribute to the sustainable development process,’" she added.
Gharaibeh affirmed that this ceremony coincided with Bahrain's Second Voluntary National Review 2023, which is being presented at the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) this week.
"UNDP is supporting Bahraini youth in their leadership journey, as an example of social innovation working together for sustainable development", he said.
As one of the most prominent regional programs in cooperation with UNDP for Arab States, the YLP9 was launched in 2015 to empower a new generation of young leaders to develop their skills, ideas, and projects in order to achieve sustainable development goals in the Arab region.
