US authorities extend restrictions on commercial flights in Iraqi airspace until 2027

The Federal Aviation Administration in the United States of America extended the restrictions imposed on US commercial flights in Iraqi airspace for three new years. The Administration said that it had taken a decision to extend the ban on flying below certain altitudes until October 2027, and attributed this to risks and military operations by parties that could threaten flights. According to the new decision, the restrictions also apply to foreign companies operating joint flights with US airlines. Last month, the US Department of Transportation imposed a fine of $ 250,000 on Air Canada for operating flights in 2022 and 2023 in prohibited Iraqi airspace. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
