Doha: Vodafone Qatar confirmed that the instant SIM card, which was announced Tuesday, is part of the company's plan to provide the Qatari market with a number of innovative products. This came during a media meeting organized by the company on Wednesday that highlighted more advantages and features of its new product, which provides communication features from anywhere in Qatar and at any time in a few seconds, whether through prepaid packages or a monthly subscription and explained practically how to optimally use this SIM card. In his remarks to Qatar News Agency , Head of Public Sector at Vodafone Qatar Mohammed Al Yafei said that the new product will enhance the experience of tourists coming to the State of Qatar, by providing this immediate and self-activating chip in 2,600 points of sale in the State of Qatar easily and without the need for communication or the Internet. He added that Vodafone Qatar knows that the number of tourists coming to Qatar has increased significantly after hosting the 2022 World Cup. As a telecom company, Vodafone Qatar aspires to enhance the tourist experience when coming to Qatar. For example, if we imagine that a visitor arrives in Qatar late at night and does not find a telecom company outlet to sell him a data SIM card or a calling SIM card, the instant SIM card that will be available at the airport, in the taxi, in the hotel, and even on the supermarket shelves in 2,600 locations in the country, solves this problem because it is self-activating and instantaneous in use, and does not require any human intervention. Head of Public Sector at Vodafone Qatar said that the new instant SIM, powered by artificial intelligence, works with electronic customer identification (EKYC) technology, so the activation process is easy and simple. All the customer has to do is insert the new SIM card into their smartphone and then scan the available QR code. From there, they can choose the type of package, whether prepaid or monthly subscription. He indicated that while prepaid customers w ould need their passports, postpaid customers would be asked to enter their Qatari ID number. Customers can also choose the type of SIM card, whether physical (physical SIM) or electronic (eSIM), and choose the number that suits them, whether free or premium, depending on the package they choose. In a company statement on Tuesday, HE Chief Executive Officer at Vodafone Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Jassim Al-Thani said: "This is a pivotal launch for Vodafone Qatar - one in which we are revolutionizing consumer connectivity with a truly seamless digital journey. In today's fast-paced world, staying connected is essential and we are committed to providing solutions that mean our customers are empowered to stay connected, anywhere and anytime. We are proud to be pioneers of new and innovative technology and we hope that the new Instant SIM will transform the way residents and visitors to Qatar choose to connect." According to the company's announcement yesterday, this new technology provided by Vodafone Qatar is the first of its kind for mobile phone customers in the world, allowing them to control when and how their services are activated on their smartphones.
