World Congress on Rehabilitation 2024 to open in Abu Dhabi

Manama: The World Congress on Rehabilitation (WCR) 2024 is set to take place from 23 to 25 September at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), marking its first event in the Middle East. Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO), the congress will focus on 'Work and Employment.' The event aims to address global challenges faced by People of Determination, particularly barriers to their integration into the labour market and efforts to ensure equality. Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of ZHO, the congress is organised in partnership with RI Global and the International Social Security Association (ISSA), with the support of the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau and ADNEC. According to WAM, more than 190 speakers, including 30 from the UAE, will present 70 scientific studies across 30 sessions. The event will host over 500 participants from 70 countries, featuring experts, aca demics, and researchers in rehabilitation and healthcare. ZHO Secretary-General Abdullah Al Humaidan emphasised the importance of hosting the congress as a platform to showcase the UAE's success in empowering People of Determination. He highlighted that key topics will be addressed, with Germany sharing its experience in empowering People of Determination, and a dedicated session on the challenges faced by women of determination in the workforce. The congress will also address inclusive workplaces, training, rehabilitation, and policy enhancements, with a focus on individuals with complex disabilities, including mental health conditions. Additionally, ZHO will launch the first-of-its-kind 'Emirati-Russian Psychology Dictionary' in partnership with Ural Federal University in Russia. Source: Bahrain News Agency
