Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called, on Wednesday, for Moscow to be stripped of its veto power in the UN Security Council.

“Most of the world knows the truth about this war,” Zelensky said, as Russia’s Ambassador to the United Nations sat in front of him. “It is a criminal and unprovoked aggression by Russia against our country aimed at controlling Ukraine’s territory and resources.”

In his speech during the work of the United Nations General Assembly, Zelensky said, "Ukraine is exercising the right to defend itself, and its assistance with weapons and punishment of Russia helps defend the Charter of the United Nations."

The Ukrainian president noted that the Russian attack led to the death of tens of thousands of Ukrainians and the displacement of millions.
