Doha: Somali security forces announced today the killing of 10 members of Al Shabaab group, linked to Al-Qaeda, in a security operation in the Birhani area, northwest of Kismayo in Jubaland state.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported that the Somali army, in collaboration with international joint forces, eliminated a group of 10 Al Shabaab militants who were planning an attack in southern Somalia.
It is worth noting that Somali forces have been engaged in battles against Al Qaeda-linked Al Shabaab militants for over a decade. In recent months, they have managed to regain control of several areas in central and southern Somalia.
