It will revolve around the state of Qatar's sustainable development in light of the Qatar National Vision 2030, the prospects of economic diversification in the country, the knowledge economy and its role in economic diversification, and the role of governance in achieving sustainable development. The Conference will also highlight the importance of sustainable development and economic diversification in addressing economic crises, sustainability, and sustainable development standards, along with disclosures. The 2nd Qatar sustainable development and economic diversification conference will attract speakers from international institutions and organizations, along with speakers from the State of Qatar and the Middle East. It will be an occasion for knowledge exchange, showcasing best practices, and issuing recommendations to enhance collective efforts toward achieving sustainable development goals, in line with the State of Qatar's economic, social, and cultural policies amid global economic challenges. Moreover, discussions will include the International Sustainability Standards Board's publications on sustainability disclosure standards and their role in attracting investment. QCPA Chairman Dr Hashim Al Sayed stated that the conference aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by UN member states in 2015, also known as the Global Goals. He added that these goals represent a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030. Al Sayed explained that the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals are interconnected, in recognition that progress in one area can impact outcomes in other areas, and that development must balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability. The QCPA Chairman added that the Qatar National Vision 2030, with its four pillars (human, social, economic, and environmental), forms a comprehensive strategy for achieving sustainable development, aiming to transform Qatar into a developed nation by 2030, capable of achieving sustainable development while protecting the environment and continuing to ensure a good quality of life for its people for generations to come. The Qatar National Vision 2030 aims to create economic diversification and find a balance between an oil-based and a knowledge-based economy, expand industries and services with competitive advantages derived from hydrocarbon industries, and develop economic activities characterized by a high reliance on research, development, innovation, and excellence in entrepreneurship.
